Rome Mediterranean No Dig 2007
newsletter n. 2 (February 2007)

This new year that has just begun will be crucial to the growth and success of Trenchless Technologies in the Italian market and all countries facing the Mediterranean.

Ten years from the last meeting held in Genova back in 1997 the City of Rome, in cooperation with ISTT will host the Mediterranean NO-DIG 2007- XXVth International Conference & Exhibition, a widely recognized event on network services’ environment-friendly  applied technologies.

This event provides a great opportunity for Government Institutions, the academic world and  industry leaders to discover and get up-to-date on the most technically advanced tools available to cities and territory urban development and preservation and learn how such environmentally safe technologies have proven to be cost-effective in managing and maintaining the infrastructures.

With its historical and cultural tradition and its strategic geographical location Italy’s key role will be to reduce the gap between northern European countries (widely represented in the Conference) and emerging and developing countries in the Mediterranean area. NODIG will be promoting these new technologies to the Countries of the Mediterranean area. With that in mind, a special effort has been made by our organization to gather world-famous field authorities to discuss technical and regulatory issues such as Project Financing and materials development.

Despite Italy’s many areas of excellence these break-through processes may still be regarded as a niche market compared to the rest of Europe, where a greater concern over protection of natural environment and a closer attention to people’s needs have prompted local Governments to consistently implement the use of trenchless technologies.

The Mediterranean No Dig 2007 wants to provide a change of mentality by interpreting the technological innovation, therefore generating new markets and opportunities with more efficient cost-control systems.

Ample space will be given to water resources applied-technologies and management (supply and transport): a dedicated area where exhibitors, engineers, corporations, equipment and systems’ manufacturers  will be able to interact with the various representatives of the emerging countries of the Mediterranean.

Several draft agreements and proposal are currently being finalized between  IATT – Italian Association for Trenchless Technology and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the  ICE (Institute Foreign Trade), ANCI (Association of the Municipalities of Italy), UPI (Union of Italy’s  Province), FEDERUTILITY (Federation of Companies for the management of useful public services), SOGESID, ASSISTAL.
This newsletter is the beginning of promotional campaign intended for 30,000 field operators including companies, technicians, service managers, public and private departments’ officers.  Our goal is to initiate a new level of communication with an increasing number of counterparts.
